Our team at Gulf Coast Dental Care of Biloxi would rather prevent tooth decay than fill decayed teeth. So as a preventive service, our dentist, Dr. Grafton Teets, and our hygienist, Kaylan, use dental sealants to strengthen your defenses against tooth decay.

A sealant is a coating made of a clear or tooth-colored resin material that is painted onto the chewing surface of teeth. By blocking out the bacteria and food debris that lead to tooth decay, the sealant prevents cavities. Dental sealants form a smooth surface over the natural pits and grooves of the chewing surface, which also makes it easier to clean teeth effectively with normal brushing.

We provide sealants to both children and adults although this service is most often recommended for children. Dr. Grafton Teets and the hygiene team frequently recommend sealants for the permanent molars as soon as they come in, which is usually between the ages of 6 and 12 years. We may also recommend dental sealants for adult patients whose teeth are prone to decay or to protect teeth from ever needing a filling. We can apply dental sealants in just one short, comfortable visit to our practice.  We can often apply sealants at the same appointment as your regular cleaning.

Sealants can be a powerful tool in preventing decay and keeping your smile healthy. Please check our Promotions on the Home page for a special offer on sealants. Also, sealants are usually covered for children by dental insurance.
