We offer comprehensive care at Gulf Coast Dental Care of Biloxi, which includes care for your maxillofacial (jaw and face) regions. Do you suffer from chronic jaw or facial pain? If so, you may suffer from TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder, which is also known as TMD. Other common symptoms of TMD include:

Migraines and tension headaches
Clenching and/or gridning
Clicking, grating, or popping sounds in the jaw joint when you open and close your mouth
Ear pain, ringing in the ears, or clogged ears
Can’t find your bite
A locked jaw

Our dentist, Dr. Teets, provides TMJ treatment to relieve the pain and discomfort that accompany TMD. Because TMJ disorders are often caused by misalignment in the jaw joints, your treatment will be focused on achieving and maintaining the proper jaw position. We use advanced technology, including TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), to aid in treating TMJ disorders. Dr. Teets may recommend an oral appliance, which fits over your teeth to help your jaw remain in the ideal position. Oral appliances can also prevent teeth grinding and clenching, which is another possible cause of TMJ disorders. Depending on the cause of your TMJ disorder, we may recommend tooth restoration, gum maintenance, or other treatments. To learn more about TMD and how we can treat TMJ disorders, please:

Unlike traditional dentistry, our TMJ treatment follows the principles of Physiologic Based Dentistry which includes evaluating the complete system: the way your teeth mesh together (bite), the TMJ joint and the supporting muscles. Physiologic Based Dentistry is also called Neuromuscular Dentistry.
